Ohio drivers license suspended New Years Eve, but fine had been paid in March. Now what?

Due to holiday could not call court until yesterday. They had no record of fine being paid. Faxed them proof fine was paid. Was told they were trying to find out what we had to do. This evening they still don't know what to do. If they don't give us a solution tomorrow, I will call Bureau of Motor Vehicles. I hate to think of paying a lawyer to get this resolved. Also, don't think we should have to pay $25.00 to have it reinstated, since it should never have been suspended in the first place. Anyone know where to go from here?
